Bring on Nap Time

“It is true that you may occasionally overhear a mother say “Children must have their naps, It’s mother who knows best.” When what she really means by that is that she needs a rest.”
 - Donna Evleth

Too much to do, too little time between toddler and baby demands and needs....

Just getting settled in...

I am finally doing it - slowly it must be said, but it is in progress!  I am setting up a little crafty shop...
So, welcome to my little crafty corner shop.  I am a serial craft addict – having a go at pretty much anything.  Crocheting is my current obsession….who knows…a few flowers and butterflies may just wing their way in my shop direction soon.
You will find more and more bits and pieces added to the shop every so often, so please keep popping in to see what’s new.  I will also occasionally add remnants and crafty items from my stash – such as the Pat Bravo fabrics currently listed.
I hope you enjoy your visit to the Two Little Flowers shop as much as I enjoy making!

Finally :: Colouring Toys, here we are!

It has taken me far too long, but I have started uploading them.  It might take a big longer, what with the grunting and groaning of little "Rose" sounding like she is about to wake up.  Wednesdays are my 'me' day - the only day of the week when 2 year old "Lily" is at play school...and I have a teeny tiny bit of peace and time to do what I want to do.

So, here is Emma...a colouring in doll.  She is 23cm tall x 16cm wide at her pigtails.

She is hand drawn on to cotton fabric - so each one will be unique.  You have the option of her coming 'flat packed' (i.e. ready for you to sew and fill) or sewn, filled and ready to colour.  12 fabric crayons are included with either option for maximum colouring pleasure.

I also have 2 bunnies in the pipe line, as well as a crocodile - hopefully they will appear soon!

Emma (flat packed) :: All nice and neat and ready to be posted.

If you are interested.....please click on the link to the right.  Also, if you are busting at the seams for one of my other colouring toys, please drop me a note and I will expedite my process!!

Crochet flower blanket

This is what made me obsessed with learning to crochet.  A few months ago I stumbled over this flower square design - see here for info from the Rose Hip blog.  I tried and tried and tried again to learn to crochet with book instructions and you tube....I kept giving up.  I needed someone in front of me to pester!  Anyhow, Mum arrived a week before our little Rose made her appearance (9 ruddy days late I tell you!!!), so we put that waiting time to good use.  {in labour, bouncing on a birthing ball in our lounge crocheting flowers - not so focused on the discomfort - a highly recommended form of distraction}

I'd like to make a blanket with these squares, but I fear that my attention span will die at the thought of the shear quantity of squares needed to make a decent sized blanket.  Mum suggested that we design or find a pattern for a bigger square (that would swallow 4 of these flower squares), about 15cm, to speed things along.  This pattern won't be a 3D flower pattern, maybe something simpler.  Mum has gone home now - too far away to enlist her in-person tutoring skills - so the pattern will have to be simple enough for me to figure out on my own.

So option 1 (from here):

Option 2 (from here)

Option 3 (from here)

Now...if only I were a decisive person....

Mollie Makes has landed at my door

I discovered the new Mollie Makes magazine a few weeks ago and immediately fell in love with it.  It quenches my thirst for colour, texture, patterns, shopping, web browsing, crochet....you get the idea.  Anyhow, I decided that a subscription was in order!  The lovely, bright and shiny new edition landed at my door today.  YAY!!  I am itching to get my crochet hook out of my current project so that I can have a go at the gorgeous flowers and butterfly lurking within.

I haven't had a proper chance to look at it yet, what with only having 1 hand free most of the time - having a 6 week old baby pretty much permanently attached to me is something of a problem...  But, it is something to look foward to when I am given a few moments peace and when my brain isn't buzzing with the rabbit toy, hat and blanket projects I currently have on the go.

More later!
